This 535i 5-speed was purchased new in Texas and remained registered there until I acquired it in December 2024. It reportedly sat covered in a carport for several years until 2020, when a meticulous disassembly and inspection of the car resulted in replacement of parts totaling over $40,000. The PO performed most of the labor in his own shop, including a complete 3-stage respray in its original color. A new BMW metal sun roof, Hartge replica rear wing, and a new front valence were installed during the repaint.

Under the hood, cylinder head work included one new exhaust valve, a surface skim, and new seals and gaskets related to that job. The cooling system was completely overhauled, including a new radiator, heater core, and blower motor, while a new air conditioning compressor, evaporator, condenser, receiver/drier, expansion valve and barrier hoses were added during the R134a refrigerant conversion.

The suspension received a new BMW 9-piece steel control arm kit, bushings, Bilstein B6 dampers, and 4 factory spec springs (NOS). Staggered 16” Maxilite Alpina wheels (J8 rear; J7 front) are wrapped with BFG G-Force Comp 2 A/S+ tires. Additional upgrades include a Billy Boat performance exhaust and a Dinan Performance ECM chip. A Bluetooth capable Continental head unit enables hands free communication and audio entertainment through Kicker speakers.
