I absolutely love this car. It's brought me up and down the eastern seaboard the last five years.

It’s been a joy to own and drive — the kind of car that makes you look back after you park it.

But I don’t have the time or resources to give it the love it deserves, so it’s ready for the next enthusiast to enjoy.

Since this E39 540i has been in the same family its entire life, we have all service records available for anyone who wants to see the full maintenance history. It’s not just another sedan — it’s the V8-powered, rear-wheel-drive sport executive that defined the early 2000s, and it still feels special today.

Highlights & Maintenance:

• Somewhere between 125,000-129,999 miles* – plenty of life left in this German classic

• Silver exterior, grey interior – clean and timeless

• Oil & filter changed Feb 2025

• Rear brakes + rotors, new rear tires, and new left rear ball joint – Aug 2025

• Front tires replaced Aug 2024

• Radiator, front arm bushings, and timing belt replaced – Apr 2024

• Battery, gas cap, and engine air filter replaced – Jul 2025

• Front brakes/rotors replaced – Jul 2023 (<25k miles)

• Spark plugs & cabin air filters replaced – Dec 2023

Condition:

• Runs strong and is still an absolute joy to drive

• Suspension needs attention (not unusual for a car this age)

• Occasionally trips the “engine failsafe program”

• Windshield wiper system needs TLC (dispenser/motor replaced last year, but some hoses need replacing)

• Exterior: 3 small trunk dents, bumper scuff/crack, a couple of rust areas

• Interior: Sunroof opens but struggles to close, 5-disc CD player is stubborn, LED display faded (typical E39 charm)

• Damage report on Carfax is from a tree branch falling on the car – this impacted the sunroof, CD player, and bumper

• Mileage not rolled back, it was a shop mis-read due to the LED display fading (see photos)
