Story Behind the Vehicle

This BMW series E39 (540iaT) was named Edmund's Most Wanted Luxury Midsize Sedan in its class, was on Car and Driver's 10 Best List for 2002, was Winner of the 2002 Automobile All-Star Award for Best Luxury Car under $40,000, among many other awards. Car and Driver called the 5-series the world's finest ride. This is a true Touring car (the "T" in the 540iaT nomenclature being BMW's recognition of this prowess) with the largest cargo capacity in its class. Versatile seating configurations include the interior snow-ski pocket, a nod to its European Alps heritage. I am the second owner having purchased it from BMW as Certified Pre-owned in 2005. This touring station wagon with its classic lines and comfortable, quiet, and powerful ride, backed up by it's V8 4.4 liter DOHC 32 valve engine and legendary 540 handling, will make the most discerning BMW enthusiast smile.

Meticulously maintained, this rare series E39 is mechanically sound and has been garaged exclusively, as evidenced by it's excellent original paint and interior. The car is loaded with options (see photo of the BMW dealer window sticker) including M Series 17" alloy wheels, a full-size spare tire, Anti-Theft Alarm system, 2-way Power Sun Roof, and heated seating, steering wheel, exterior mirrors, and windshield washer jets, integrated cargo cover with optional net screen, and passenger side window sun screens. Mechanical refurbishments in the past 18 months include new front control arms, Bilstein struts, brake pads and rotors, Xenon self-leveling headlamps, flushing of the power steering system, along with the normal scheduled services of the transmission and differential.
