Intro

This is a four owner 1991 BMW M5 Dinan in Schwarz black with black Nappa leather interior. It has the 3.5-liter S38 inline-six mated to a five-speed manual transmission and shows 170k miles. It has Dinan performance modifications and recently completed extensive service with new parts added. It was originally registered in California, and then Nevada. The seller has owned it for a year and a half. It has a clean Carfax and a clear title and is in California.

Exterior

The exterior is painted in Schwarz black with Shadowline trim, M-Tech side view mirrors, and BMW Motorsports-branded door handles. It has fog lights, dual exhaust outlets in the rear, a revised front air dam, rear valance, and rocker panels compared to the standard (Non-M5) E34. The Dinan badge was given for shocks, springs, and a stiffer sway bar. The seller has added the following new parts: rear shocks and coils (has front coils but not installed as shocks appear fine), rear dogbones, front and rear hood and trunk shocks, rear sway bar bushings, and BMW badges front and back. It has 17” SSR GT3 wheels wrapped in new Michelin Pilot Sport tires that were recently balanced and aligned. The original 17” throwing star wheels are included in the sale.

Interior

The interior is upholstered in black Nappa leather including door panels and center console with power-adjustable front sport seats. It has a new Continental radio with Bluetooth, an onboard computer, cruise control, and dual-zone air conditioning. The seller recently added new parts consisting of ashtray slider and front cover, lighted window and sunroof switches, handbrake lever and cover, stick shift cover and knob, interior lightbulbs everywhere, new front and rear speakers, head unit with Bluetooth that looks period correct, rear parcel shelf liner and new ceramic window tint on all windows except windshield.

Mechanicals

This E34 M5 has the 3.5-liter S38B36 inline six. The seller notes new parts added include fuel pressure regulator, coolant temp sensor x2 (Blue and Black), fuel filter, all vacuum hoses in engine bay, new high pressure PS hose (custom built as NLA), spark plugs

crankshaft position sensor, refurbished fuel injectors (RC Injectors in SoCal) and throttle bodies have been synced.

Driver side door card needs repair or replacement

The speedometer is from a 540i (with higher mileage) and has the wrong redline and the odometer shows about 210k miles. Carfax actual mileage is about 40k less. 

Summary

This M5 has spent its life in a warm climate with no exposure to harsh winters. The seller is including new front springs and shocks that have not been installed.
