Intro

1988 BMW M3 purpose-built track car, bright yellow, built S14B25 EVO engine, welded-in full cage, prepared by PMR in New Jersey and campaigned for many years in BMW CCA Club Racing. The E30 M3 was BMW's homologation special for Group A touring car racing and went on to become the most successful touring car of its era, which makes a properly caged, race-prepared example like this one exactly what the chassis was born to do. This car has sat unused for the last eight years and will need a full fuel system cleaning before the engine is run again. The sale includes an extra Giken differential and four additional sets of wheels. True miles unknown, as the cluster was replaced with track gauges without an odometer. It has a clear title and is in New Jersey.

Exterior

The car was originally Henna Red and was repainted its current bright yellow when the roll cage was installed, giving it high visibility on track. As a purpose-built race car, the body wears the E30 M3's signature box flares, raised trunk deck, and aggressive aero that were homologated for competition. It has a 'J Stock' Suspension which is a modified Bilstein system popular with E30s in the 90s and early 00s. Interior

The interior is race-prepared with a welded-in full roll cage. The factory instrument cluster has been replaced with a set of gauges configured for track use; no odometer was retained, so total mileage is unknown. It has racing seats, harnesses, fire system, kill switch, and removable steering wheel.

Mechanicals

The engine is a built S14B25 EVO-specification motor — the 2.5-liter evolution of BMW Motorsport's 16-valve four-cylinder, versus the 2.3-liter unit this U.S.-market car left Munich with — running an Alpha-N engine management system with a Gruppe A oil pan and Gruppe A header. For reference, the factory S14B25 in the Sport Evolution produced 238 horsepower and built race motors typically exceed that. Power reaches the rear wheels through a manual transmission, and the car is equipped with a fuel cell. Important: the car has sat unused for eight years, and the seller states the complete fuel system must be cleaned before the engine is run again. The sale includes a spare Giken limited-slip differential and four additional sets of wheels.
